News and fans' stories Latest news AEK Athens receives Access Champions recognition AccessibAll is delighted to announce that AEK Athens has become the third recipient of the Access Champions recognition, reflecting the club's practical leadership in infrastructure, digital accessibility, fan experience and inclusive matchday services. Building on more than 150 accessibility assessments delivered for FIFA and UEFA, AccessibAll now offers clubs and venue operators a revamped set of tools to review, improve, and measure access for disabled fans across the full matchday and digital journey. Announced at our AccessibAll Summit in Madrid in 2024, Access Champions recognises the efforts of sports organisations and entertainment venues that go beyond structural accessibility. Beyond the positive standards implemented, for example through UEFA’s club licensing system (including Article 46 on disability inclusion), our Access Champions recognition pushes boundaries even further. It helps venues and hosts not only meet established requirements, but also to achieve excellence across all dimensions of inclusion. This creates a more empowering experience for every fan while opening new, sustainable revenue streams through inclusive innovation. AEK Athens - the 13 times Greek champions - becomes the first club in Greece to receive the Access Champions recognition, joining Atlético de Madrid and Sparta Prague as leaders in this area. The recognition was presented by AccessibAll Global Advisor, Dominique Blanc, and CEO, Olivier Jarosz, in a special ceremony held at the club's Allwyn Arena. Speaking after the presentation, Dominique Blanc said, "Accessibility is not an add-on, it is the foundation of a modern, inclusive game. Every club that commits to access and inclusion strengthens football as a united and supportive community". "Many thanks to AEK Athens for the warm welcome and for your clear commitment to accessibility in action. In your magnificent stadium, everyone, whatever their disability, is able to experience and share the joy of football", added Dominique. Angeliki Arkadi, General Manager of AEK Athens, said, "We are very happy that our stadium, Allwyn Arena, and our club, AEK FC, became the first in Greece and third in Europe to receive the Access Champions Certificate from AccessibAll, focusing on improving accessibility and inclusion for disabled people in sport, with a main emphasis on football". We would like to extend a huge congratulations to everybody at AEK Athens for this well-deserved recognition! Published 3/3/2026 Manage Cookie Preferences
